Welcome to

The Bitless Horse Training Project

So what is this project? The Bitless Horse Training Project was started in September 2022 by me, Elizabeth Turpitt. I am a horse breeder, horse trainer, retired chiropractor, saddle fitter and student of a happy life.

So from October 2022 until April 2024, we undertook this research. And….

…in April 2024, our program was born.

A program that we have poured our hearts and souls into creating.

A program that includes all the beliefs, experience and training I have learnt over the last 20 years and all the ideas, experience and energy of the bitless horse training project volunteers.

It could also be called,

“Training your horse to be bitless with high levels of fun and love so he really enjoys being with you, with the result being that you develop a partnership that leads to great confidence and trust between you and your horse in 8 weeks!”

What is it? It’s a step-by-step video training program for you to follow. Each step of the training has its own video tutorials and is organised into a number of steps each week, so it is easy to follow.

We have kept the training videos and modules straight forward so that it is easy for you and your horse to understand. So, after a busy day, you can concentrate on doing the training, rather than thinking “What should I do next?”

The 8 week process is divided into small steps, and the steps are organised into weeks. Each step follows logically from the previous so that what you learn in step 1 prepares you for step 2 and so on. There’s lifetime access to the program, so you can take as long as you want to complete the program, we will still be there to guide you.

Our aim is to guide you and support you to have the horse you dreamt of and to ride him the way you want to.

What does it take to get confident riding bitless?

Understand your horse’s character along with his mental and physical capabilities, develop language and communication between you and your horse, create a plan of action to get your horse safe for riding, then tailor your training to help him learn to achieve softness, flexibility and willingness.

We like our horses to be supple and flexible and be starting to carry their weight more on their hind legs so they become lighter in the hand and much easier to stop and a pleasure to ride. That’s what we call bitless riding success!

Testimonials for One to One Coaching

“We would 100% recommend Elizabeth because she finds the cause(s) of the problem(s), and then she helps the horse and human to work together to solve it. In the process, this allows the horse and rider to develop a better understanding of each other and a better partnership”.

Jenny Grice, Eva & Rebel

“Elizabeth identified the physical problems that our horse was having that was preventing us from advancing. He was, in fact, trying to communicate with us! Everyone around us just said to show him who’s boss. Elizabeth gave us a plan of action, which helped us eradicate the problems and gave us a way forward to help us improve our communication and our relationship. She guided us, answered our questions and gave us support during it all.

Marion & Denis Granville

“I came by Elizabeth by chance and I’m so glad I did. She taught me how I needed to change the way I did everything to get my pony to WANT to do what I wanted him to do, rather than try to force him, which tended to have the opposite effect. With her knowledge and understanding of the horse’s physically body and her knowledge of horse training, she guided and supported us to look deeper into what was really going on. Finally, I had solutions to our problems”.
